How to water Kind Earth Blend with Jayne & Evert
Watering
Watering is often times over looked by new growers. Yet, improper watering is biggest cause of plant stress. When you first transplant into Kind Earth, keep pot well watered for at least two weeks to allow for optimum root establishment. Once cannabis plants establish roots, they prefer cycles of wet and dry. As plants get larger they demand larger amounts of water more frequently.t If you are growing in containers that you can pick up easily, you can gauge watering by the weight of the pot. Kind earth is bagged in a relatively dry state, and will be easy for most people to lift in medium sized pots. When a container is saturated by water, it will be heavy to lift. A good rule of thumb, is to water your plants as the container begins to feel lighter. Kind Earth contains screened compost which retains moisture very well, and will therefore require less frequent watering than plants grown in a media such as peat or coir alone.
Cannabis plants will demand more water during the flower cycle, especially in the first few weeks of floral development. Kind Earth approaches wilting point within 2-5 days depending on stage of growth, container size, and environment. Hotter environments, with bright lighting and small containers will require more frequent watering. If a plant begins to wilt, you have already missed the sweet spot for watering and could be reducing yield and quality, not to mention increasing the incidence of pests and disease. Yellow/brown drooping leaves are indicative of wilting. Conversely, wilting can occur in growth that is green with bent leaf tips which is a sign of over watering.
If you notice a plant is wilting, pick up the container for a weight reference. Saturate the material and feel the difference between wilting point and saturation point.
Note: in most containers when kind earth becomes bone dry a gap will form between the root ball and the inside wall of the pot. Water can run down this gap, but not infiltrate the root zone. Feeling the weight of each pot after watering can help ensure that the root zone is properly hydrated.
If water is draining from the bottom of your container and the pot is heavy to lift, you have successfully saturated the root zone.
