FRUIT AND MISC. VEGETABLES

66 . Bleu De Solaize Leeks- (85 days) Long yet robustly stout shaft that creates a large edible portion. Holds well until mid-late October.

67. Walla Walla Onions (110 days) Large and very sweet vidallia-esque onion. Cold hardy, but not a storage onion. I’ve seen my dad eat these like an apple! They like a lot of water.

68. Rhubarb- Vigorous thick succulent stems are green with a reddish overlay. Leaves are poisonous. We have been growing these plants at ECF for 30 years. Attention! Rhubarb must be planted in April. If you want rhubarb crowns please call for pick up at the farm.

69. Honeye Strawberries- Early, large strawberry that is excellent for fresh use or freezing. Good in RI’s cool springs because flavor declines in really hot weather.

70. Toma Verde Tomatillo (77 days) Not to be confused as a tomato, tomatillos are golf ball sized or larger green fruits wrapped in a papery husk. In Mexico they are made into great salsa, sauteed in butter, or if allowed to ripen to yellow can be eaten raw. The flavor is between a sour plum and a tomato. They often split before fully ripening. Excellent flavor
